This past weekend, our retail member Outdoors, Inc. sustained fire damage to their 1710 Union Avenue Location in  Memphis, Tennessee.  The neighboring building to the Union Ave. location (one of three in Memphis) caught fire and has damaged parts of the building.  Outdoors, Inc. is working hard to restore the building and the store to full working order.  Please continue to shop local with Outdoors, Inc in all of their Memphis & Jackson locations while they get the store cleaned up.

Outdoors, Inc. would like to thank the Memphis Firefighters for quick response and containing the fire.  Unfortunately, four firefighters were injured fighting the blaze.  Our thoughts and concerns go out to the four firefighters and their families.

To read more about the fire and for updates please visit the store website  www.outdoorsinc.com or read the full report here  .

Barton is in seventh heaven on Mississippi
Different look to river, but same finish

Greg Barton spent most of the day Friday driving 12 hours to Memphis from his home in Charleston, S.C., with a white Legacy kayak in tow.

Today, he’ll turn around and drive another 12 hours back home to finish an exhausting weekend journey.

It seems like a lot of traveling to take part in an event that lasts barely 15 minutes.

Greg BArtonBut Barton insists the annual Outdoors, Inc., Canoe & Kayak Race is well worth the drive — and his amazing record in the race seems to back up the statement.

At just after 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Barton crossed the finish line at the 27th renewal of the Outdoors, Inc., Canoe & Kayak Race with a first-place time of 16:01 in the men’s open kayaking division. He finished just ahead of Arkansas paddler Michael Herbert, who placed second in 16:20.

During the past decade, Barton has participated in the Outdoors, Inc., race nine times, winning seven of them — and he plans to keep coming back, no matter how long it takes him to get here. For Full Article Click Here
