Montrail Hardrock
These shoes are SOLID! I’ve tried several other trail running shoes but the Hardrocks really work for me. Stability is the key for my style of trail running. The TPU plate in the midsole provides a stable platform on uneven terrain and a lot of protection. For me that’s a huge factor aer several months of training. Like most trail runners I’ve turned my ankle to many times to count but the Hardrocks provide a very sturdy feel on the trail. The front toe box has plenty of room for swelling and those long punishing downhills. The heel cup is well cushioned and snug. The traction is excellent with an aggressive but not over done lug patern.

The Hardrocks also drain really well after going to the other side of those soggy creek crossings. The Hardrocks are just plain durable. The last thing you want is the shoe to fall apart in the middle of a 50K. The outers on the Hardrock have held up long after the cushioning is blown out. Get a pair and go getr done!

Tips for other runners: I think you have to challenge yourself. For me that’s what keeps me motivated and pushing what I believe I can do.  For more on Chad and the Rock/Creek Race team go here
